Jahr, Augusta (30 July 1850 - 19 June 1933)

Mrs. Augusta Jahr, one of the pioneer women of this locality, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Chas. Steuerwald, 323 Court Street, Neillsville, June 19.

Mrs. Jahr, whose maiden name was Augusta, Drescher, was born in Altenburg, Germany, July 30, 1850. She came with her family to America in 1873, and settled in the town of Grant. Here on Oct. 30, 1874 she was married to Bernhard Jahr, settling on land in the town of Grant and there developed a good farm home.

Mr. Jahr died just twenty years ago. About 5 years later the farm was sold.

Mrs. Jahr was a woman of the finest pioneer type, helpful in home and community. She was a member of the Christian Science church. She is survived by five sons and two daughters: Oscar, town of York; Frank, town of Fremont; Lena, Mrs. Chas. Steuerwald, Neillsville; Edwin, Wesley, and Clara, Mrs. Ferd Reichert, Granton; Albert in Neillsville.

The funeral was held this, Wednesday, afternoon at 1:30 in Lowe's Funeral Home. The Christian Science service being read. Six grandsons are pallbearers.
