TONY, Wis. -- Ethel Frances Heath, 97, of Tony died Nov. 16, 2004, at Rusk County Memorial Hospital following a two-week illness.
Services were held Nov. 19 at Tony Methodist Church. The Rev. Paul Webster officiated. Burial was in Tony Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Nash-Jackan Funeral Home in Ladysmith, Wis.
Mrs. Heath was born at home on Aug. 25, 1907, in Owen County, Ind., the daughter of Emory and Bertha Herington. She came to Rusk County, Wis., in 1940.
She and Thomas "Tom" Heath were married on Dec. 25, 1937, in Pipestone, Minn. She organized the Deertail 4-H Club and was a leader for many years. She also was a Sunday school teacher. Until she married, she was a one-room school teacher.
She was involved in the Christmas Seal Society, Tony school board, Guernsey Cattle Club, the Republican Party and Farmers Union. She belonged to Tony Methodist Church.
Survivors include four children, Alta Hutchens of Ladysmith, Wis., Malon (Pat) Heath of Eau Claire, Wis., Marlus (Barbara) Heath of Tony and Carol (Kay) Heath of Tony; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Harley (Agnes deceased) Herington of Withee, Wis.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; a grandchild; and a brother, Robert "Bob" Herington.
