Literski, Merceda A. (28 Aug. 1922 - 3 April 2005)

ATHENS –Merceda A. Literski, 82, of Athens passed away Sunday, April 3, 2005, at the Colonial Center in Colby.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2005, at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Milan with the Rev. Charles Hiebl officiating. Interment will be held at a later date in St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Wuerzburg. Cremation Society of Wisconsin is serving the family.

She was born Aug. 28, 1922, in Athens to Leo and Helen (Nowicki) Murkowski. She attended St. Anthony Catholic School. She married Joseph Literski at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Athens on Sept. 2, 1942. They farmed in the Athens area for many years. She had an intense love of reading, gardening, card playing and spending time with family. She was a member of St. John's Altar Society in Wuerzburg.

She is survived by six sons, Philip and Michael (Jean), all of Athens, Joseph Jr., David (Pamela) all of Edgar, Dale (Marianne) of Athens and Patrick of Mosinee; one daughter, Linda (Todd) Peterson of Oconto Falls; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Howard (Dorothy) Murkowski of Athens; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by husband, Joseph; infant son; parents; and brother, Clarence Murkowski.
