The former Edna Schwantes was born Sept. 29, 1910, in Clark County, a daughter of Fred and Ida (Griepentrog) Schwantes. She attended schools in Neillsville, Loyal, Spencer, McMillan, Richfield and Marshfield. Prior to her marriage, Edna was employed by the Roddis family in Marshfield and later at the Woolworth department store in Minneapolis.

Edna Schwantes was united in marriage to Walter Seehafer on Nov. 1, 1930. The couple operated and resided on the home farm for 71 years. Walter preceded her in death on Nov. 25, 1976.

Edna Seehafer was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church (formerly St John's). She taught Sunday school, belonged to the Ladies of Grace, was a member of the Grace Cemetery Board and, in her later years, participated at the Senior Center in Marshfield. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, attending reunions, cooking, traveling, dancing, playing cards, but most of all talking. She never met a person she couldn't talk with and usually discovered they were distant relatives.

Edna is lovingly survived by her son, Richard (Carol) Seehafer, Deerbrook; eight grandchildren, Mrs. Susan Rasmussen Wilderman, Waukesha, Mrs. Cindy Rasmussen Ramsey, Oshkosh, Mrs. Terri Rasmussen Mand, Fond du Lac, Mr. Tom Rasmussen, Oshkosh, Mrs. Cathy Seehafer Pont, Sterling, Va., Mrs. Ann Seehafer Boson, Marshfield, Mrs. Joan Seehafer Erwine, Urbandale, Iowa, and Mr. John Seehafer, Bloomington, Minn.; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She is further survived by three sisters, Mrs. Frances Trieweiler and Mrs. Marion (Leroy) Seidl, both of Marshfield, Mrs. Norma Hansen, Brillion; as well as a sister-in-law, Myrtle Schwantes, Marshfield.

Three brothers, Lother, Eldor and Fredrick Schwantes, and her parents, preceded Edna in death. Memorials in Mrs. Seehafer's name may be designated to the Grace Lutheran Church.
