Chester E. Meissner, 80, of Madison, Wisconsin, died January 2, 2004 at Victoria Palms Resort, Donna, Texas. Born June 2, 1923, in Clark County, Wisconsin, he was the son of Edwin A. Meissner and Bertha W. (Grobe) Meissner.

Chester attended the Forestside School near Chili in grades 1-8. He graduated from Marshfield High School in 1941 and then farmed in the Chili area until 1949. He attended the University of Wisconsin, Madison from 1949 to 1951. He attained a Bachelors Degree from Los Angeles State College in 1955 and a Masters degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1961.

He served as a Wisconsin educator for 30 years -as a high school teacher for six years and as a School District Administrator for 24 years. He taught at Amherst, Blanchardville, and Richland Center High Schools from 1955-1961. The subjects taught included biology, algebra, advanced math, chemistry, physics, and senior science. From 1961 until 1985, he was Administrator in the Blair, Markesan, Luxemburg-Casco, and Cassville School Districts.

Mr. Meissner is survived by his wife Marian (nee Cole); sons - Ronald (Diann) Meissner, Lancaster, WI; Jim Meissner, Ashland, OR; and Duane Meissner, Marshall, WI; and daughters - Carol (Rod) Krueger, Sturgeon Bay, WI; Cathy (Wendell) Beckwith, St. George, UT. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brother Harland Meissner, sisters-in-law Viola Meissner and Sonia Meissner, and brother-in-law Ronald Gluch.

A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Chester will be missed. A memorial service was held January 11th at Victoria Palms Resort in Texas. Interment was at Yolo Cemetery, Chili.
