Janoski, Christine A. (31 March 1907 - 18 April 2005)

Christine A. Jankoski, age 98, longtime Stanley resident, passed away on April 18, 2005, at the Wausau Hospital.

A Christian burial Mass will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2005, at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Stanley with Fr. Robert Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends and family May call on Wednesday evening from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Plombon Funeral Chapel, Stanley, with a 7:30 p.m. rosary being recited.

Christine was born March 31, 1907, in Collinsville, Ill., the daughter of Mathew and Frances (Oconski) Millus. At the age of 9, she and her family moved to Thorp, Wis., where she grew up and attended area schools in the town of Butler. She then attended Eau Claire Normal School graduating in 1925 and taught in the rural schools in the Thorp and Stanley areas. She was united in marriage to Michael Jankoski on October 27, 1931, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Stanley. She then taught elementary education for many years at the Dodge Elementary School in Stanley, substituted until 1980 and then later did volunteer teaching. She also did volunteer work at the Victory Memorial Hospital and the Grey Ladies and was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, later Holy Family Catholic Church in Stanley, and also belonged to the ladies aid. During her years of retirement she enjoyed knitting, by which she made afghans for all of her family, baking and spending time with her family, which were moments that were cherished.

She is survived by her two daughters, Mavoureen (Lloyd) Wieman of Wausau, Wis., and Pamela (Richard) Parker of Hubertus, Wis.; grandchildren, Kurt (Randa) Wieman, Connie (Daniel) Large, Kaye (Jeff) Newman, Carol Wieman, Craig (Marsha) Wieman, Clark Wieman, Kenneth Wieman, Michael (Patti) Parker, Jon Parker, Dr. Daniel (Julie) Parker, Bill (Jodi) Parker and Paul Parker; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and one sister-in-law, Catherine (Francis) Bergeron of Chippewa Falls, Wis.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Michael on September 10, 1986; one brother Melvin Millus; and two sisters, Marie (Walter) Verkuilen and Alvina (Truman) Pringle.

Plombon Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
