Roessler, Elizabeth Anna (14 April 1888 - 10 Nov. 1934)

Elizabeth Anna Pirwitz was born April 14, 1888, to Mr. and Mrs. August Pirwitz at Aztalan, a small town near Lake Mills, Wis., and passed away at Mt. Washington Sanitarium at Eau Claire Saturday morning, Nov. 10, at 11 o’clock.

In the fall of 1888 she came to Clark County with her parents, who settled on a farm in the town of Grant. Here she grew to young womanhood, attended the rural school and St. John’s Lutheran School of Neillsville, and was confirmed in the Lutheran Faith.

Nov. 27th, 1912, she was united in marriage to Otto Roessler. Two sons, Clarence and Robert, were born to this union.

Mrs. Roessler had been a patient sufferer with tuberculosis for many years, her husband and sons doing all within their power to bring back her health. In 1926 she spent six months at Statesan, and the following year Mr. Roessler, a contractor and builder, sold his lumber yard here and with his wife and small sons left for Grass Valley, California, where they remained during that year and part of 1928. Feeling that her health was regained they returned to Wisconsin to the home they loved. About four years ago it was necessary for her to undergo an operation and since that time she failed gradually. On July 25th of this year she was taken to Mt. Washington Sanitarium, where she remained until relieved by death. Mr. Roessler and sons and her neighbors and friends called on her there as often as possible. Miss Mabel Patey having visited her the afternoon before the end came.

Mrs. Roessler led a beautiful Christian life, deeply devoted to her family and home, and her charming and kindly manner made her beloved by all with whom she came in contact.

She is survived by her husband and sons, Clarence 17, a senior in Neillsville high school; and Robert, 13, an 8th grader; a sister, Mrs. Max Wagner of Marshfield; a brother, Paul Pirwitz of Marshfield, one sister having died at the age of nine years; an uncle, Carl Pirwitz, and an aunt, Mrs. Kracht, both of Lake Mills, and a uncle, Ferdinand Pirwitz, of Neillsville.

The funeral was held at the home Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 and at St. John’s Lutheran church at 2, Rev. Wm. A. Baumann conducting the services. Interment took place at Neillsville cemetery. The Lutheran Ladies Aid, of which Mrs. Roessler was a member, attended the service in a body and sang "Abide, Oh Dear Jesus." The pallbearers were N. F. Toptine, Leslie Keuer, Harold Pischer, John Pagenkopf, Joe Zimmerman and Frank Meihack.

Those present at the funeral from of out of the city are: Mrs. A. Kracht, Mr. Albert Kracht, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Pirwitz, and Mrs. Otto Mahr, all of Lake Mills; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Walker, Madison; Mrs. Ed. Bennett, Deerfield; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Pirwitz and daughter, Dorothy, Mr. and Mrs. Max Wagner and daughter, Irma, Mrs. Paul Hintz and Mrs. Al Specht, of Marshfield.
