The Poet Cornered
The Emblem of a great nation and state, with the kind of people that makes this nation great; Offers haven and home for those that love it, No other nation shall fly theirs above it.
The symbol of a nation where God is King, Where you may worship, pray and sing; With a free mind of your own inclinations, Not by coercion or another’s dictation.
The banner of a nation where love thy neighbor is heard, Be he Russion, Irish, Spaniard or Kurd. There are many far over the sea, Who covet the opportunity just to be free.
A symbol of a nation, may it be the last to wave, Over the homes of the fathers and sons who gave; For the future of kin and other loved ones, And the others that are destined to come.
In repetition again I will say, There is none other on Earth like the American way; Offers haven and home for those that love it, For no other nation shall fly theirs above it.
