Warner, Phebe J. (5 May 1851 - 13 Apr 1930)

Mrs. S. S. Warner, whose maiden name was Phebe Jane Warden, was born at Theresa Co., N.Y., May 5, 1851 and died at her home in Thorp, Clark Co., Wis. Apr. 13, 1930, after a severe illness of three months duration. She was married to S. S. Warner at Lafargeville, N.Y., Oct. 20, 1866. They moved to Juneau Co., Wis. in 1869 and May 14, 1874 they settled on a homestead near the present site of Eidsvold, where they resided for forty years. Sixteen years ago they sold the farm and moved to Thorp which has since been their home. The funeral was held at the home April 16 at 1 p.m., Rev. James Irish of the M. E. Church, officiating. A large number were in attendance. The Women’s Relief Corps, of which she had been a member for forty years and from which she recently received a special badge for long and faithful service, attended in a body. Interment at Eidsvold followed, six sons of veterans acting as pallbearers.

The floral offerings were very beautiful. Mrs. Warner is survived by her husband and five children, all of whom were with her at the last. The children are: Bill Warner of Eidsvold, Abi (Mrs. W. C. Tunison) of Hannibal, Lizzie (Mrs. W. E. Powell of Mobridge, S.D.), Lucinda (Mrs. R. B. Brown) of Harlingen, Texas and Susan (Mrs. W. R. Allen) of Eidsvold. Three sisters, Mrs. Nancy Sayles of Eidsvold, Mrs. Alma Vandusen of Stanley, and Mrs. Sabrey Cornwell of Hannibal. One brother, John Warden of Eidsvold. Many grandchildren and other relatives.
