Gloria M. Schmitz, 62, Spencer, died Monday, June 27, 2005, at her home, after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 30, at Hansen Funeral Home, Marshfield. The Rev. Daryn Bahn officiated. Music was provided by Jeri Hitchcock and Darwin Frey, soloist. Burial was in the Salem Lutheran Cemetery, Spencer. Pallbearers were her brothers, Wayne Rasmussen, Douglas Rasmussen, Neil Rasmussen, Garth Rasmussen, and Allen Rasmussen and godson, Kevin Rasmussen.

Gloria M. Rasmussen was born Sept. 28, 1942, at Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, to Theodore and Mae Elizabeth (nee Williams) Rasmussen. She attended Marshfield schools and graduated from Marshfield High School. She married Gary Krasselt on Sept. 9, 1961. He passed away on May 6, 1976. She married Gary Schmitz on July 8, 1978, at Christ Lutheran Church, Chili. They made their home in the town of Sherman. She worked at Figi’s in the credit department for 17 years, retiring as assistant supervisor, in January of this year. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Chili. She was the president of the Salem Lutheran Cemetery board., and enjoyed collecting dolls, gardening and yardwork. She was known to take out a hammer and nails to fix things, she enjoyed spending time with friends and co-workers and watching golf on TV, but she most especially loved her family and cherished her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Gary; her children, Kendall (Lori) Krasselt, Loyal, Shawn (Andy) Braun, Spencer, Troy Krasselt, Wausau, Todd (Paula) Krasselt, Loyal, and Cory (Joanne) Krasselt, Marathon; five brothers, Wayne (Charlotte) Rasmussen, Marshfield, Douglas (Marlene) Rasmussen, Marshfield, Neil (Jan) Rasmussen, Fond du Lac, Garth (Delores) Rasmussen, Racine, and Allen (Donna) Rasmussen, Nekoosa; one sister, Charlotte Wilson, Aurora, Colo.; and nine grandchildren, Mindy Krasselt and Kyle Krasselt, Dustin Braun, Lindsey Braun and Courtney Braun, Alex Krasselt and Amanda Krasselt and Casey Krasselt and Cullen Krasselt.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her first husband; and two brothers, Richard Rasmussen and Donavan Rasmussen.

Hansen Funeral Home, Marshfield, assisted the family with arrangements.
