Henry Nielsen, 82, Greenwood, died Sunday, July 31, 2005, at Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Greenwood.

Henry Nielsen was born on Oct. 16, 1922, in Harshaw, Oneida County, to Johannes and Anna (nee Olsen) Nielsen. When he was 4 years old, his family moved to Monches, where he received his education and helped on the family farm. At the age of 17, the family moved to Greenwood, and settled there. He married Beatrice Schwarze on June 25, 1949, at United Lutheran Church, Greenwood. They farmed with his parents for two years before purchasing their own farm west of Greenwood. They farmed until 1993, at which time they sold the farm to their son, David, and moved into Greenwood. He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council and sang in the choir, served 16 years on the town of Eaton board, and was a member of the Clark County Male Chorus. His interests included spending time with family and friends, farming, hunting, and fishing in his younger years.

Survivors include his wife, Beatrice, Greenwood; his children, Harlan (Sandy) Nielsen, Greenwood, Harris (Kathy) Nielsen, Granton, Berdell Nielsen (husband Paul Boutwell), Mazomanie, Roy (Jeanie) Hillpoint, Larry Nielsen, Greenwood, and David (Sheryl), Greenwood; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandsons; two step-great-granddaughters; and one sister, Karen Isabella Mantey, Watertown.
