STORM CLAIMS LIFE OF MRS. AGNES MENGEL

Funeral services for Mrs. Agnes Mengel, age 64, of 706 E. 2nd Street, Owen, who drowned in her car on Thursday evening, June 5th, 1980 in a flood filled ditch, were held on Monday, June 9th, 1980 at 1:00 p.m. at the Maurina Funeral Home in Owen, with the Rev. Roland Golz officiating. Burial services were at the Riverside Cemetery, Withee.

The pallbearers for the funeral services were Pat Mengel, Jeff Mengel, Gene Mengel, Henry Weichers, James Newman, and Steven Clarkson.

The former Agnes Anderson was born on July 11, 1915 at Withee, and attended Hixon Township School. She was married on February 3rd, 1933 to Rudolph Mengel at Withee.

Mrs. Mengel was employed for the past 30 years by the Master Package Corporation in Owen.

She is survived by her husband; three sons, Richard of Curtiss, Robert of Owen, and Kenneth of Withee; three daughters, Mrs. Lloy (Lois) Clarkson, of Dorchester, Mrs. Ray (Delores) Newman of Loyal, and Mrs. Gunther (Sandry) Weichers of Loyal; four brothers, Howard Anderson, Withee, Harvey of Withee, Leland of McHenry, Ill., and Roger of Abbotsford; five sisters, Mrs. Anton (June) Luzinski of Lublin, Mrs. Edward (Beatrice) Engel of Withee, Mrs. Albert (Elaine) Gehrke, Owen, Mrs. Clarence (Lillian) Warncke, Wisconsin Rapids, Mrs. Arvin (Vivan) Gaurke, Liberal, Kansas; 24 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and one son, William.
