Dow, Joan B. (6 AUG 1937 - 19 AUG 2005)

Joan B. Dow, 68, Chicago, formally of Loyal, died on Friday, Aug, 19, 2005, at Holy Cross Hospital, Chicago. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 24, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Loyal. The Rev. Roman Kaiser officiated. Burial was in St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were Daniel Dow, David Johnson, Bill Neubauer, Nicholas Nowak, David Heidewald and Edward Heidewald.

Jean Bertha Welsh was born on Aug. 6, 1937, in Loyal, to Ted and Grace (nee Neubauer) Welsh. She was raised and educated in Loyal, graduating from Loyal High School in 1955. She married Robert Dow on Aug. 27, 1955, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Loyal. They moved to Chicago shortly after their marriage, where she raised their family. She went to work for United Desoto and then later worked as a secretary for her husband’s trucking business. She spent a lot of time doing volunteer work. Her interests included spending time with her family, reading, arts and crafts, and talking.

Survivors include her husband, Robert, Chicago; one son, Robert (Christine) Dow, Mokena, Ill.; two daughters, Christine Fernandez, Davey Fla., and Pamela (Brad) Stewart, Oak Forest, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, James Welsh, Loyal; one sister, Judy (James) Heidewald, Chicago; one sister-in-law, Bertha Neubauer, Anoka, Minn.; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents; one daughter, Anita Jean Dow; and one brother, Richard Neubauer.

Cuddie Funeral Home, Loyal, assisted the family with arrangements.
