They went to West Bend, Wis., where they lived till they moved to Clark County in March 1883. They settled on a tract of timber land in York, and there underwent the trials of pioneer life. There Mr. Kubat died, and after living some years on the farm, she moved to Neillsville to make her home. Of their eight children, two are deceased. Marie died at West Bend in 1879; Anna, a Franciscan sister, died at La Crosse Feb. 14, 1904. Six sons are living: Frank and John in York, Joseph at New Lisbon, Anton at Portland Ore.
