MRS. FRED A. BROWN RITES AT GREENWOOD
Greenwood - Funeral services were conducted from the Methodist Church her at 2 p.m. Sunday for Mrs. Fred A. Brown, 62, Glen Flora, former Greenwood, Clark County resident, who died of peritonitis at St. Theresa’s Hospital in Waukegan, Ill., on Dec. 1, 1937.
Officiating at the rites were the Rev. C.R. Gaylord, Greenwood, and the Rev. Van Patter, Glen Flora. Burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were six nephews, James McConnell, Roy McConnell, Ernest Christie, Arthur Christie, Eugene Christie, and Clayton McConnell.
Floral tributes were in charge of four nieces, Mrs. Edna Hubert, Misses Mabel McConnell, Gertrude McConnell and Mae Christie. Mr. and Mrs. Alback, Glen Flora, sang several appropriate selections, accompanied by Mrs. John Meng, Greenwood.
Mrs. Brown, nee Mary Grace McConnell, was born in Allerton, Iowa, on March 7, 1875. She came to Greenwood with her parents in 1877 and was married here to Fred A. Brown in Dec. 1894. The couple resided in Greenwood until 1903, when they moved to Glen Flora. On July 2, 1936, she went to Wauconda, Ill., with her son, Donald.
Surviving besides her husband, who is in Eau Claire, are a daughter, Mrs. Eva Howell, Glen Flora; and three sons, George, Argonne, Wis.; Donald H., Mundelien, Ill.; and Keith G. Brown, Chcago. A daughter, Grace Helena, died at the age of three months, and a son, John Edwin, also preceded her in death.
Other surviving relatives include two sisters, Mrs. Walter (Isabella) Jordan, Portland, Ore., and Mrs. Free (Elizabeth) Christie, Greenwood, and two brothers, Robert and James McConnell, Greenwood.
