Vergene Mae "Sis" Swearingen, 64, a 40-year resident of Shelton (WA), died Thursday, May 24, 2001, of lung cancer at Mason General Hospital, Shelton. She was born Feb. 17, 1937, to Victor and Marion (Nason) Bisser in Neillsville, Wisconsin. She married Duane Swearingen on June 13, 1957. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Swearingen retired after working as a specialty packer for Hiawatha Evergreens. She enjoyed spending time outdoors, visiting her family, outdoor walks and her yard. Mrs. Swearingen is survived by a son, Steven Swearingen of Shelton; a sister, Barb Strickland of Shelton; a brother, Tony Bisser; two-grandchildren; four nieces and five nephews. A family gathering is planned.

Memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, 1551 Broadway, Tacoma, WA 98402-3332 Arrangements are by McComb Funeral Home, Inc., Shelton.
