Hynes, Joseph E. (12 Jan 1916 - 29 Dec 2002)

WITHEE - Joseph Edward Hynes, age 86, formerly of Withee, Clark County, Wis., died Sunday, Dec. 29, 2002, at the Wisconsin Veteran's Home at King surrounded by his family.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Jan. 6, 2003, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Owen.

Joseph (Ed) was born in Pomeroy, Iowa, on Jan. 12, 1916, to Patrick and Margaret (Lampe) Hynes. He served in the Army during World War II as a Foreman in the 21st Engineers. He served in North Africa and Italy.

Joseph was married to Mary Jane Klein on Aug. 4, 1948, at St. Joseph's, Iowa. He moved with his family to a dairy farm in Withee in 1960. He and Mary retired from farming and moved to a home in Withee in 1983. He resided at the Clark County Health Care Center in Owen for three years prior to moving to Wisconsin Veterans Home this past August.

Besides his wife, Mary, survivors include two sisters, Mary Hutchinson of Hayfield, Minn., and Dorothy Vaske of Fairbault, Minn. He is survived by seven children and 17 grandchildren, Pat: (Jan) Nick and Emily, Aurora, Ill., Dan: Craig and Karen, Ohakune, NZ and Carol Robertson, Napier, NZ; (Jerome) and Clint Schill, Auburndale; Carolyn (Gordon) Leticia and Lucas Ovans, Redgranite, Tom, Mukwonago, Sharon and Tim, Delafield; Virginia (Gary) Amanda and Erik Messick, Onalaska; Mike (Kathy) Mindi and Justin, Machesney Park, Ill; John (Dara) Megan, John Jr., David, Josef and Isaiah, Wittenberg.

Preceding him in death by his parents, three brothers, Francis, Raymond and Paul; and two sisters, Lucille Dorweiler and Margaret Govern and his daughter, Elaine Schill.

Joseph loved his family and spending time with his children and grandchildren. His family will greatly miss his sense of humor, twinkling blue eyes, his music and his mechanical skills.
