Goff, Susan L. (24 AUG 1857 - 29 Sep 1890)

Died, at her home in the town of Withee, Clark County, Wis., on Sept. 29, 1890, Mrs. Susan L. Goff, wife of H. F. Goff, aged 33 years, 1 month and 5 days.

Mrs. Goff was born at Pine River, Waushara Co., Wis., Aug. 24, 1857. Her mother died when she was ten years old, leaving her the care of the whole family, including a little babe. She came as a bride to the town of Withee in 1883, where she has since lived. Very early in life she embraced religion and in 1877 joined the Congregational Church. A little more than a year ago she united, by letter with the M. E. Church at Thorp. She was a very earnest Christian and took great delight in the Sunday school and public religious services, often walking miles to attend them. As a kind and obliging neighbor she could not be excelled. Loved and respected by all who knew her, her going will be a great loss. In her last hours she was resigned to the Master's will and willing to go. She prayed for her husband and family and for all her neighbors, and her last words were: "I see Jesus. I hear the angels." The funeral services were conducted by Rev. George Brown on Wednesday Oct. 1st, and the remains were interred in the cemetery near Zimmers' corners. Previous to the funeral the little infant one month old was baptized and give the name of Eugene Murray. The mother's sister will take charge of it, and carry it with her to her home in La Crosse.
