Hare, Mr. & Mrs. Merrill (Golden- 1984)

Relatives and friends attended the 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Hare of Greenwood. It was held at the American Legion Hall in Greenwood on August 18. The event was hosted by their children, Richard and Corrine Larson, Greenwood; Jim and Sue Rohm, Minneapolis; Dan and Margaret Thrall, Minneapolis; Bill Hare and Francis Li, Minneapolis; Rosemary Hare and Jim Uhren, Milwaukee; and Beth Hare and Patrick Croy, Pine River. The honored couple has 13 grandchildren.

The couple, Merrill Hare and Lois Merkel, were married August 18, 1934, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenwood. They have lived in the city since. Their attendants, Mr. Gilbert (Lucille) Rohde and Albert Neuenfeldt, both of Greenwood, were present for the celebration.

Merrill Hare was born July 12, 1910, to Charles and Olive (Sischo) Ghare in Cooperstown, N.D., and came to Greenwood in 1915. Mrs. Hare, the former Lois Merkel, was born November 2, 1914, to Joe and Margaret (Blum) Merkel in West Bend and has lived here since 1919.

Prosser, Mr. & Mrs. Harold (Golden - 1984)

Washburn Homemakers had a surprise picnic at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Prosser last Sunday. It was a belated party in honor of the Prosser’s 50th wedding anniversary which was July 9.
(An earlier surprise picnic had been planned in July at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Lifto, Iola, but it turned out to be bad, rainy weather so it was cancelled.)

Most of the members were in attendance as were the Lifto’s of Iola. Mrs. Lifto brought the cake, and all took a dish to pass. The couple were presented with several gifts.

Turville, Mr. and Mrs. Chester (Golden - 1984)

Mr. and Mrs. Chester Turville of 309 Hill St., Neillsville, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on September 1 with a supper and dance at the Neillsville American Legion Hall. The couple was originally married on November 9, 1934, in Sheldon.

The Turvilles lived in the Neillsville area all of their married lives, farming in the Town of Weston until 1974, when they moved into the city.

The couple has four children, Mrs. Henry (Christine) Kurz of Spencer, Dale of Rockford, Illinois, Mrs. Norman (Ann) Thompson of Rockford and Wayne of Temple, Texas. They also have 15 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Attending the gala were relatives and friends from Arizona, California, Illinois, Iowa, New Jersey, Texas and Minnesota.

The Rev. Wenker officiated at the Saturday, August 25, wedding of Sandra Elmhorst and Kelly V. Smith. The service was held at Zion Lutheran Church of Granton. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Robert Elmhorst, Rt. 1 Granton, and Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Smith, Rt. 2 Neillsville.

Music at the service was offered by Lori Anding, Caroline Helm, Aline Gerl and Iris Musil.

Debbie Helm, a friend from Granton, was maid of honor. She was joined by Vicky Auman, a friend from Marshfield; Barb Zipfel, a friend from Neillsville; and Bridget Wiemken, the groom’s sister from Roseville, Minnesota. Flower girls were Amy Gerl, the bride’s niece of Spencer; and Honeli Anding, a friend from Neillsville.

Serving as bestman was Danny Bellavance, a friend from Pittsburgh, Penn. He was joined by the groom’s brother, Kris Smith and friends, Dave Anding and Joe Raine; all are from Neillsville. Ushering were Rocky Elmhorst, the bride’s brother of Granton; and Carsten Wiemken, the groom’s brother-in-law of Roseville.

The bride chose an organza and Chantilly lace gown with embroidered yoke and high neckline and featuring bishop sleeves, a pick-up front and ruffled flounce that swept to a chapel-length train. She carried a cascade of lavender roses. Her attendants wore print gowns of Chantilly lace; they each carried lavender roses and greenery. The groom was attired in a tailed white tuxedo; his attendants wore silver tuxedos.

Following the service, a supper was held at the Wildcat Inn, followed by a dance at the Silver Dome Ballroom. The couple announced that their honeymoon would include the Minnesota State Fair. The couple will make their home at Rt. 1 Neillsville.

Prenuptial events included a shower hosted by Debbie Helm.

The new Mrs. Smith is a 1982 graduate of Granton High School and is privately employed. Her husband is a 1977 Neillsville High School graduate and served in the U.S. Army from 1977-1980. He is employed as a truck driver for Roehl Transport of Marshfield.

Elaine Minge and Robert Free were united in marriage on Tuesday, September 4, at the Neillsville United Church of Christ. The Rev. Gale Wolf officiated. Serving as attendants for the couple were Lori and Tom Free, the groom’s daughter and son of Neillsville.

The new Mr. and Mrs. Free will make their home at Rt. 1 Neillsville. She is a graduate of Neillsville High School, and from computer studies in California. She owns an antique-giftware shop and also has seasonal employment with Figi’s in Marshfield as a computer print-out editor. He is a graduate of Neillsville High School and is a supervisor for the Clark County Highway Department.

Murphy, Diane L. (18 August 1984)

Diane L. Murphy and William J. Hoeft were united in marriage on Saturday afternoon, August 18, at Globe’s Immanuel Lutheran Church by the Rev. Ralph Stuebs. Parents of the bride are Louis and Elaine Hagedorn, Rt. 4 Neillsville. The groom’s parents are Ray and Esther Hoeft of Granton.

Lana Adams, a friend of the bride from Neillsville, was matron of honor. Junior bridesmaid was Christine Murphy, the bride’s daughter. Bestman was Pat Murphy, the bride’s son. Ushering were Jim Hanson, the groom’s nephew of Marshfield; and Dave McDonald, the bride’s nephew of Neillsville.

Music at the service was offered by Connie Hagedorn and karen Hoppa.

The bride chose a floor-length gown with lace jacket, and veiled hat, which was made by the bride’s mother. She caried a bouquet of stephanotis, pink roses, carnations and baby’s breath. Her attendants wore floor-length, light turquois dresses with ringlets of matching colored flowers in their hair. They carried bouquets of white spider-mums and pink carnations. The groom and bestman were attired in black tuxedos.

Following the service, a reception for the immediate family was held at the Wildcat Inn. A reception and dance was also held at the Granton Sportsmen’s Club. The couple announced they would be taking a spring wedding trip.

Prenuptial events included a shoer hosted by Donna McDonald, Bonnie Thoma and Lana Adams.

The couple will make their home at rural Neillsville. She is self employed as an accountant and operated MPC Accounting in Neillsville. Her husband is a self-employed trucker and operates Hoeft Livestock Hauling of Granton.

Gayle Ann Stumpner and David Lee Kronberger were united in marriage in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Loyal by the Rev. James Logan on Saturday afternoon, September 8. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. George Stumpner, Rt. 1 Loyal, and Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Kronberger, 1808 Pitcher St., Neillsville.

Music at the service was offered by Lori Aumann, Lori Lindner, Sandy Miller and Gary Gluch.

Maid of honor was Connie Kobiske, a friend from Marshfield. Joining her in the bride’s party were Tonya Poeschel, a friend from Neillsville; Kris Aumann, the bride’s sister of Loyal; Lori Kronberger, the groom’s sister of Neillsville; and Diane Kronberger, the groom’s sister-in-law of Granton.

Jeff Pfeiffer, a friend from Neillsville, was bestman. He was joined by Craig Kronberger, the groom’s brother of Granton; Duane Poeschel, a friend from Osseo; Bill Poeschel, a Neillsville friend; and Doug Lightfoot, a friend from Humbird. Ushering were Dean Hinkelmann and Tim Tresemer, both friends from Neillsville; Altoona friend Nick Poeschel; and Michael Stumpner, the bride’s brother of Loyal.

The bride chose an organza gown trimmed with Chantilly lace and featuring a ruffled chapel-length train. She carried a Juliet-style wreath of roses and carnations. Her attendants wore taffeta slip-style dresses in daphne and burgundy hues and featuring jackets and featuring ruffled necklines. They carried bouquets of roses and carnations. The groom was attired in a white tuxedo and his attendants wore gray tuxedos.

Following the service, a reception was held at the American Legion Hall in Loyal. A meal was also served at the church hall.

Prenuptial events included a shower hosted by the staff of the Neillsville Clinic; a shower by Kris Aumann and Lucille Pagelsdorf, and a shower by Mr. and Mrs. Craig Kronberger, Lori Kronberger and Tonya Poeschel.

The bride is a 1980 graduate of Loyal High School and is employed as a medical assistant for the Neillsville Clinic. Her husband, a 1980 graduate of Neillsville High School, is a meat cutter for Bob and Caryl’s IGA in Neillsville. The couple will make their home in Neillsville.
