Murphy, Jerry (? - 30 Apr 1879)
A man by the name of Jerry Murphy was fatally injured in a row at Funk's saloon, in the town of Hixon, Clark County, Wis. last Wednesday evening, the proprietor being the person at whose hands the injury was received. From what we can learn it seems that the two quarreled over some trifling affair, and Murphy knocked Funk down and kicked him in the face, then he left the place wand was followed out by Funk, who struck him with a sharp instrument in the forehead just below the hair, cutting through the skull and into the brain. Murphy has since died, and Funk is in jail awaiting his trial. (Colby Phonograph, May 7, 1879)
