Meachem, H. A. (1849? - 18 Mar 1905)

H. A. Mechem, a well known farmer living northeast of Loyal, Clark County, Wis., in the town of Unity, dropped dead in Spencer last Saturday afternoon. He was talking with an acquaintance and was stricken without an instant's warning; the sentence her was speaking was left unfinished and he never showed any symptoms of life afterward. The cause of his death was heart failure.

Mr. Meachem was 55 years of age, a healthy robust looking man who apparently enjoyed good health. He leaves to mourn his loss a wife and nine children. Most of them have grown to man and womanhood. George and frank are residents of Condee, S.D., Will and Walter of Sparta, Allie of Spokane, Wash., and Mrs. Wm. Oleson of this village, the others residing with their parents. Mr. Meachem has been a resident of Clark County about seven years and was well and favorably known to many in this vicinity. In his early manhood Mr. Meachem enlisted in the Civil War and was at the time of his death a member of the Chas. Gill Post of this place and a past Commander of the order.
