Vetter, Frank (17 APR 1859 - 27 MAY 1907)

Frank Vetter, a well known resident of this village (Loyal, Clark County, Wis.) for a number of years, died at his home here on last Monday morning, May 27, 1907, at seven o'clock after an illness of several months. He at first had a cancer on the lip, which was cut out and it was thought at the time with success but later another appeared on the jaw bone, which was operated upon and given the X-ray treatment at the hospital in Marshfield for months, but to no avail, as it eventually caused his death.

The deceased was born on April 17, 1859, at Kewaskum, Washington Co., Wis., and came to this village when but sixteen years of age, and his parents followed him a year after and settled on a farm in the town of Beaver. He was united in marriage to Miss Alma Florence Wicker in Nov. 1883, to whom were born three children, Mrs. R. McConnell of Marquette, Mich., George Vetter, who is in the United States Navy, and a daughter who died when a baby. On Aug. 8, 1894, he was married to Miss Anna Klimmer, who with her two children, Floyd, aged 10 years, and Verana, aged nine months, and the children of his first wife, three brothers, William of this village, Charles of Wert, Minn., John of Milwaukee, and four sisters, Mrs. Jacob Filber of Walworth, Wis., Mrs. D. Thompson of Milwaukee, and Mrs. John Beety and Mrs. John Stahl, both of Chicago.

The deceased was a man of excellent habits, fine moral character and sturdy constitution, and he continued to be active in his accustomed pursuits until about three months before his death. He retained his clearness of intellect up to his closing days. His best monument will be the good report that he has left behind him in the community in which he lived for many years. He was a man who united sound sense with strong convictions and had a candid outspoken temper.

The funeral services were held at the Catholic Church at ten o'clock in the forenoon, Rev. A. Douven officiating, and paying a beautiful tribute to the memory of the deceased. The casket was covered with beautiful flowers and floral designs, white roses and smilax by the wife, carnations by the daughter, a cross by the Ladies' Altar Society, an anchor by B. Christman and family and numerous others.

To the broken hearted wife, children, brothers and sisters, who sit in sorrow where his footsteps shall never again find echo we extend our heartfelt sympathy.
