Obituary of Mrs. Maria Toburen

Maria Wilhelmine (Rover) Toburen was born on April 4, 1857 in Wersen, Westphalen, Germany. She was baptized in early infancy and confirmed April 6, 1873. On the 28th day of June 1878, she was united in marriage to William Toburen. That same year they came to America and made their home in Cincinnati, Oho, staying there for five years. In 1884 they moved to Wisconsin and settled in Marathon County. Tow years later they came to Clark County and purchased a piece of thickly wooded land in the Twon of Mead. Here they remained until the year 1909 when they moved on a farm near Greenwood, later moving to the city.

After her husband's death September 4, 1935, Mrs. Toburen made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Arthur Syth, in the Town of Eaton. Two daughters, Laura and Anna (Mrs. William Miller, also preceded her in death.

This year in July, she suffered a light stroke, from which she never fully recovered. She passed to her reward Saturday, October 31 at 7:35 A.M. reaching an age of 79 years, 6 months and 27 days.

She leaves to mourn her death, two sons and two daughters, William, town of Mead, Gustave, Wausau, Louisa (Mrs. Nels Fuldant) of Chicago Ill, and Ameilia (Mrs. Arthur Syth) Town of Eaton. 15 grand children and 10 great grand children.

funeral services were held Wednesday November 4, at 1:00 o'clock from the Syth home and at 2:00 o'clock from the West Side Reformed church, Rev. P.H. Franzmeier officiating. The body was laid to rest in the West Side cemetary.
