Rodney Olson

Rodney C. Olson, 39, 203 W. Stanley St., Thorp, WI died unexpectedly Saturday, December 1, 2001, at his home.

Rodney was born January 21, 1962 in Ladysmith, WI, son of Carol Ann (Quanderer) and Weston M. Olson. He grew up in Chippewa Falls and Junior High and High School graduating from Chippewa Falls High School. He moved to Hobbs, New Mexico in 1982 where he was employed as a rough neck in the oil fields. He returned to Chippewa Falls in 1998 where he was employed at A. J. Manufacturing in Bloomer and Mueller Nursery in Chippewa Falls. In August 2000 he began employment at Benchmark in Thorp. He presently was employed at D. J. Concrete in Holcombe.

Surviving include his fiancé Kate Lang of Thorp; his father Weston Olson of Chippewa Falls; three sisters: Julie (Michael) Putney of Eau Claire, Sherry (Joe) Canfield of Chippewa Falls, Tammy (Mark) Pierce of Bloomer; two brothers: Richard Olson and Jody Olson, both of Chippewa Falls; three half-brothers: Merlin Olson of Mantowa, MN, Tim Olson of Barnum, MN, Greg Olson of New Richmond; nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his mother.

A funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 5, 2001 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls with Pastor Brad Crocker of Landmark Christian Church officiating. Burial followed at Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls. Friends called from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday and before the service at the funeral home.
