Obituary of A.H. McCarty

A.H. Mcarty Dies of Injuries

Almond H. McCarty, prominent Longwood farmer, died at the LeGauit hospital, Owen, Friday, May 7 at 1:00 p.m. of internal injuries received when kicked by a horse on his farm, the day before, as he was preparing to harness his team for work in the field.

The McCarty barn is across from his home and adjacent to the home of his sister, Mrs. Ed. Bowen, who heard his cries for help and ran to the barn to investigate. She hailed a passing motorist and he was taken to Longwood, where Emery Erickson took him on to owen with his car.

An emergency operation was performed but the injuries to his chest and stomach were so severe nothing could be done.

Mr. McCarty, 63, was well known in Greenwood, as he was a brother-in-law of the late Mr. and Mrs. A.C. Barr. He was also well known thu-out Clark County. He was a member of Clark County's Democratic organization, a member of the school board of the Town of Longwood and served in other town offices.

He is survived by his wife, two sons, Allen of Waupun, Justin at home, three daughters, Mrs. Howard Farwell (Violet of Lansing, Mich. Mrs. Lawrence Thonley (Charlotte) Whitehall, Elizabeth at home. One sister, Mrs. Ed Brown, Longwood.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock from the local M.E. Church, Rev. C.R. Gaylord officiated. The body was laid to rest in the Greenwood cemetery.
