Hart, Wilber (? - 19 Jan. 1880)

THEY SLEEP TOGETHER

We take the following pathetic obituary notice from the Onawa (Iowa) Gazette:

Hart - In Onawa, Monday morning, January 19, 1880, of congestion of the brain, Ella R., wife of Dr. C. L. Hart, aged 30 years.

Hart - In Onawa, Monday evening, January 19, 1880 of croupal diphtheria, Wilber C. a son of Dr. C. L. Hart, aged 5 years and 6 months.

"The two announcements in themselves are full of sorrow, but more so when all the circumstances are known. A few weeks ago. Effie Hart was dangerously sick with membraneous croup, Dr. Hart being absent at the time, and Mrs. Hart was utterly worn out with the care of and anxiety about her daughter. When Effie recovered, Mrs. Hart was soon prostrated with typhoid fever, when the fever was subdued, and she was supposed to be recovering, congestion of the brain set in, death ensuing in two days after. During this time, Wilber, a bright little boy of five summers, was sick with croupal diphtheria, and only survived his mother some eighteen hours. Onawa has seldom witnessed a funeral more sad than this-both mother and son being buried in the same grave."

Mrs. Hart was's sister of the Tolford brothers of this place. She is spoken of by the Onawa and Sioux City papers as a lady of very exalted character and a favorite member of society whose sad death causes general sorrow among her acquaintances. We learn that he daughter Effie mentioned above is beyond recovery from relapse of disease mentioned, and that Dr. Hart himself, is dangerously ill.
