York, Harold L. (1 May 1915-14 July 1983)

NEILLSVILLE -- Harold L. York, 68, of 220 E. 15th St., Neillsville, died Thursday at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.

Services will be Monday at United Church of Christ. The Rev. Gary L. Clark will officiate. Burial will be in Neillsville Cemetery. Visitation will be at Gesche Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Ellis Williams, Br. E.H. Brekke, Darrell Raine, Clarence Becker, Douglas Beilke and Gerald Chwalla.

He was born May 1, in Sharon, to Mr. and Mrs. Louis (Maude McCarthy) York. He received his education in Delevan. He worked as head herdsman for the Mendota State Hospital for 10 years.

He married Ruth J. White August 4, 1950 in Dubuque, Iowa. They purchased a farm in Johnson Creek area, which they operated until 1972 when they moved to Neillsville. He was employed by the Neillsville School District, where he managed the school bus routes until retiring in 1976.

A member of the United Church of Christ Church, Mr. York is survived by his wife; three daughters, Mrs Larry (Shirley) Beck of Arkdale, Mrs. Louis (Nancy) Blazek of Bangor and Lisa York at home,; a son, Charles of Houston, Texas; a sister, Mrs. Marlene MacGill of Elkhorn; three brothers, Robert of Delevan, Gordon of LaCrescenta, California and Lewis or Orfordville; and two grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers.
