Newman, Marie E. W. (20 AUG 1849 - 6 NOV 1914)

Mrs. August Newman was called to the Great Beyond last Friday, Nov. 6, 1914, at her home in this village (Loyal, Clark County, Wis.). She reached the age of 65 years, 2 months and 17 days. The cause of her death was a complication of lung and liver trouble.

Marie Ernestine Wilhelmina Reeschlag was born in Zernikow, Brandenburg, Germany, Aug. 20, 1849. Dec. 11, 1869 she was united in marriage to Mr. August Neuman. Oct. 19, 1889 they came to America and direct to Loyal, where they lived on a farm for many years and then moved to the village. They were blessed with six children, of whom three passed away before her. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband, one brother and the following children, Mrs. Charles Stange, Mrs. Herman Stange and Mrs. Otto Luchterhand of Oregon, and also fourteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Deceased was well liked by her neighbors and acquaintances, for she was a woman who always had a kind word and a smile for everyone. She was honest and industrious, a kind wife and loving mother. Her memory will ever be cherished by her family and numerous friends.

The funeral was held Tuesday forenoon from the Lutheran church, with interment in the Lutheran Cemetery, Rev. E. Kemena officiating. The bereaved family has the sympathy of their many friends.
