3rd Affidavit for Civil War Pension for Henry Decker

General Affidavit

State of Wisconsin, County of Clark.

In the matter of the Pension Claim of Heinrich Decker, a Private, Co, C, 27th Regt Wis Vol Infty, Personally came before me, a Notary Public in and for aforesaid County and State, Heinrich Decker the claimant for Pension No 304226 a person of lawful age, who being duly sworn, declare in relation the aforesaid case as follows:

That the spot on the upper abdomen did exist three or four years before enlistment that it never injured him in his daily vocation as a stout healthy labor. That he would never have known that it was a hernia if he had not been so informed at his examination at Stevens Point. That when informed that it was a hernia he could swear to the existence of a hernia before the enlistment but if asked before he received that information from high medical authority he should and did swear that he was perfectly sound at enlistment although knowing of the existence of the spot on the upper abdoman as that did not interfere with him and he did not know it was a hernia. Before learning it was a hernia he swore he was sound at enlistment. Since learning the spot was a hernia he has sworn truthfully that the abominal hernia did exist before enlistment.

ss/ Heinrich Decker

Sworn to and subscribed before me, this 30th Day of June 1885, and I hereby certify that the contents of the foregoing affidavit were fully made known and explained to the affiant before swearing thereto, and in line next to last the word abdominal added; that the affiant is to me well known and a respectable and worthy of full credit, and that I have no interest, direct or indirect in the prosecution of this claim.

ss/ Geo M Hubbell Notary Public
