Obit. of Gilbert H. Abel

Services Monday for Lifelong Greenwood Man

Gilbert Henry Abel, 66, lifelong resident of Greenwood, died April 14 in Neillsville. He had been a hospital patient for two weeks.

Mr. Abel, son of John and Clara (Decker) Abel, was born October 31, 1905, on the home farm. He never married. He farmed with his father and worked at the carpenter trade in the area.

Survivers are a sister, Mrs. Norbert (Lena) Kuester of Greenwood; two nieces and two nephews.

Funeral services were held Monday, April 17, from the Hill Funeral home in Greenwood. The Rev. Eugene Antrim, pastor of Grace Uited Methodist Church, officiated. Burial was made in the West Side cemetery.

Abel, Gilbert Henry (31 October 1905 - 14 April 1972)

Gilbert Henry Abel, age 66, lifelong resident of Greenwood, died April 14, in Neillsville. He had been a hospital patient for two weeks.

Abel, Gilbert H. (31 October 1905 - 14 April 1972)

Funeral services for Gilbert H. Abel were held last week Monday afternoon from the Hill Funeral Home in Greenwood. The Rev. Eugene Antrim, pastor of Grace United Methodist Church, officiated. Burial was made in the West Side Cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Erwin Abel, Theodore Abel, Jake Barr, Arno Miller, Cyril Rakovec and Frank Rakovec. “Softly and tenderly” and “Sweet Hour of Prayer” were sung by Gary Schultz, accompanied by Mrs. Don Warner.

Those from away who attended were: Mr. and Mrs. Lester Laabs and daughters and Mr. and Mrs. William Laabs of Oshkosh; Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Laabs and family of Winchester; Mrs. Phillip Laube, Mrs. Henry Laube and Mrs. Karl Laube of Owen and Miss Karlene Humke of Marshfield.
