Obituary of Arnold H. Carl

Arnold Carl, age 83, of Neillsville, died Tuesday, Sept. 30 at the Memorial Nursing Home in Neillsville.

Arnold Herman Carl was born on May 11, 1920 in Neillsville, the son of Alfred and Clara (Weiting) Carl. He attended St. John's School and then helped on the family farm. Arnold was united in marriage to Florence Zimmermann on June 1, 1946. He hauled milk for Bill Davis, August Jahnke, and Schoolcraft's from Black River Falls to the Neillsville Condensery. In 1944 he went to work for the Clark County Highway Department and worked there for 42 years doing various jobs including working in the black top pit, hauling gravel, plowing snow and maintenance. He was a member of the Marshfield Eagles Club. Arnold retired in 1985 and enjoyed his retirement years traveling around the state.

He is survived by his wife Florence Carl, children Kenneth Carl, Kathy (Quentin) Hagen, Bonnie Carl and Randy Carl, all of Neillsville; seven grandchildren; Chris, Doug, Laura and Rebecca Hagen; Michael, Ryan, and Andrew Carl; and three great-grandchildren.

Arnold was preceded in death by his parents, a son Ronnie, a sister Nelda Voss, and a brother Victor Carl.

Funeral services for Arnold were held Friday, Oct. 3, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. Father Woodrow Pace officiated. Interment was held at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were Fritz Hediger, Mark Hemp, Matt Hemp, Art Krause, Andy Rueth, and Jim Zshernitz.

Gesche Funeral Home assisted Arnold's family with arrangements.
