Mrs. Judith Plumb, a young missionary back home after her fist term of service in Mali, Africa, is here next week for the annual Missionary Conference of the Owen Alliance Church, located at 219 Altenberg, Owen, Wisconsin.

The public is invited to attend all sessions, October 13-16, and Thursday and Friday evening at 8:00 p.m. There will be a Ladies’ Brunch on Friday at 10:00 a.m., and a Gentlemen’s Coffee Hour on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Mrs. Plumb will be speaking at both the 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. services on Sunday. A Harvest Dinner will be enjoyed after the morning services.

Mrs. Plumb was born in Mali, West Africa to missionary parents, Rev. and Mrs. S. Thomas Burns. Mrs. Plumb and her husband are graduates of Toccoa Falls Bible College and the Alliance School of Theology and Missions in New York.

Mr. Plumb and her husband are part of a team of 31 missionaries with the Christian and Missionary Alliance in Mali, West Africa. The Alliance has been active in helping victims of the devastating drought that has swept this country in recent years. As the famine victims are helped, the missionaries find opportunity to speak of the gospel and to minister to the spiritual needs of these people.

Mrs. Plumb will report on the enthusiastic response she witnessed among mor than 20,000 young people active in the Bible Clubs, youth rallies and the high school programs of the national church in Mali. County-wide Bible quiz competitions were recently introduced, starting a movement of intense Bible study among many young people.

Mrs. Plumb has learned both French and Bambara languages since arriving in West Africa in 1972.
