Gadke, Laurelda T. “Laurie” (6 August 1926 – 22 February 2022)

Laurelda “Laurie” T. Gadke, 95, died peacefully on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at Three Oaks Health Services, Marshfield.

Laurelda was born on August 6, 1926, in Chilton, to Paul and Teresa (Tilger) Tremmel. She was united in marriage to Louis Gadke on November 26, 1949, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Marshfield. Together they farmed and raised their family near Loyal. In 2014, they celebrated 65 wonderful years together. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Loyal.

Her favorite pastime was reading from her extensive and ever-growing library. She enjoyed knitting, crochet, sewing, making dandelion wine, decorating wedding cakes and saving the frosting flowers for her grandchildren with a side of dried apples and banana chips. Get-togethers with family and friends was high on her list. She spent many happy hours, with her husband, as members of the Czech Singers and going polka dancing with friends. Together, they dressed up as Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus to spread holiday cheer. Decorating inside the house for the holidays was a priority, especially for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Laurelda is survived by her four children: Louis (Mima) Gadke, Jr. of Corby, England, Kerris (Sharon Geiger) Gadke, Christopher Gadke and Marilyn (John) Bauer, all of Loyal; four grandchildren, Stacey Gadke of Corby, England, Ashley (Ashley) Gadke of Madison, Kurt (Kelly) Bauer of Chili and Shannon (P.J.) Rueth of Loyal and nine great-grandchildren, Daniel Grant, Londyn, Ava and Hudson Gadke, Kacie, Haley and Cheyenne Bauer and Gauge and Cameren Rueth.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Teresa Tremmel; her husband, Louis Gadke, Sr. in 2015; an infant daughter, Marion Frances (Joyce); an infant son, Fredrick James; sisters, Marguerite Tremmel, Myrtle Weis, Madeline Mach and Evelyn Franz and brothers, Kenneth, Ralph and Harry Tremmel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held PRIVATELY at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Loyal with Rev. Leo Johnson officiating. Committal services will be held privately by family at a later date.
