Mr. G. W. Thayer and wife, of Merrillan, are in the city visiting their son, J. H. Thayer and his family.

Bruno Sires, was among the arrivals registered at the O’Neill, last Saturday. He is very bearish in his actions and has a bed out near the barn. He tried to commit Suicide, Sunday morning, by jumping from the limb of a tree in the yard, but the rope broke and his neck was saved. He is as fond of spring chickens as a Methodist minister and the chickens have to roost high to escape him

Mr. V. R. Mead, of Thorp, is spoken of as a candidate and will be a candidate for the office of sheriff subject to the action of the democratic county convention. Mr. Mead has acted as deputy under sheriff Tolford, and has shown himself a capable and careful officer. He is an old resident of the county, and well known to all. The people of the county would be well served if he should be chosen as sheriff.
