Dear Dorene,

My name is Kurt Berry Riplinger. My father is Benjamin Mackenzie Riplinger. His father is Benjamin Franklin Riplinger who you have in this photo of the store they owned in Riplinger, WI.

My father is 80 years old now. We showed him this picture and he said right away, "Oh yes, that's the hardware store where we lived in Riplinger until I was nine years old [about 1932]. In the back left corner there was a stairway upstairs. We lived there in a very nice apartment. It had 4 bedrooms, a dining room and a very large kitchen. The store had a gas powered electric generator to bring running water upstairs to the bath tub. We sold gasoline out front of the store with the old hand pumps. It was 4 gallons for a dollar. Once in while it got to 5 gallons for a dollar on special."

Dad seems familiar with all the names in the photo. He has a sister, Grace, who also lived upstairs from the hardware store. Grace will be very excited to see this photo.

I would love to correspond with you about your family and ours. Please, do not hestitate to email me at ripkur@aol.com. I would love to share what I can.
