Binning, Donna Jean (10 Jul 1976)

The Rev. Keith Schroerlucke officiated at the marriage ceremony of Donna Jean Binning and Dale R. Andrew at the United Methodist Church, Colby on Saturday, July 10, 1976 at 4 p.m.

The bride was given in marriage by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Binning, Route 1, Unity.

Parents of the bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Andrew, Route 1, Colby.

Rebecca Hinke, Colby, provided the nuptial music, while Tom Marek and Wendy Blattler, Marshfield, were vocalists.

A chapel length gown of silk organza with a scoop neckline, trimmed with Venice lace, featuring a ruffled hemline, was chosen by the bride. She wore a picture hat with a silk illusion veil, and carried a nosegay of white sweetheart roses, stephanotis and baby’s breath.

Matron of honor was Sheryl Toelle, Neillsville. Ruth Haavisto and Julie Jacobson, both of Colby, were bridesmaids.

They wore floor length blue floral gowns of silk organza and complemented with cape like jackets. They carried a basket of blue carnations, baby’s breath, white pompom mums with a blue streamer.

Richard Bartnik, Colby, was best man for the bridegroom. Gary Binning, Unity, and James Andrew, Colby, were groomsmen.

Completing the wedding party were ushers, John Andrew and Tom Firnstahl.

A dinner followed at the church parlor. A reception and dance were held at the Sword.

The bride was a 1973 Colby High School graduate. She attended the UW-Eau Claire and the Mid-State Technical Institute, and is a medical assistant at the Marshfield Clinic.

The bridegroom graduated from Colby High in 1969 and received an associate degree in electronics in 1971, and a diploma in electronic servicing in 1972 from NCTI. He is employed as a TV technician at Jerry’s TV, Colby.

Christina Schoenfuss and Thomas Brown exchanged nuptial vows at Cherokee Park Saturday, July 10, 1976.

The Rev. Stoneborner, Wausau, performed the 11 a.m. rites.

Parents of the couple are Theodore Schoenfuss, Abbotsford, and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Brown, Colby.

A floor length creased muslin peasant styled dress featuring angel sleeves with a V-neck and ruffled hemline was worn by the bride. Completing her ensemble was a yellow and white daisy garland worn in her hair. She carried a basket of carnations and wild flowers.

Robin Spulak, Wausau, amid of honor, wore a flowr blue gown with a tiered skirt.

Mary Raasch, Wausau, bridesmaid, wore an embroidered muslin gown.

Both attendants carried baskets of lowers similar to the bride.

Dan Domagalski, Milwaukee, performed best man duties for the bridegroom. Larry Brown, brother of the bridegroom, Wausau, was the groomsman.

Father Lynch and his singing group from Wausau provided the wedding music.

A picnic lunch followed the ceremonies at the park.

The bride is a graduate of Abbotsford High School and Madison Ara Tech. She is an occupational therapist at the Colonial House of Colby.

The bridegroom graduated from Colby High School and Wausau Tech, and is employed at Land O’Lakes.

David Lesczynski, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Lesczynski, Abbotsford and formerly of Athens, recently received his doctor’s degree (PHD) in soil science from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

He will be teaching at California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo.

A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Stephan Zillmer July 15, 1976 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. She weighed seven pounds, four ounces. They named her Kendra Marie.

Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Zillmer, Sparta, and Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Lerel, Seymour.

Beisner, Herman W. (9 Oct 1904 – 13 Jul 1976)

Funeral rites were held for Herman W. Beisner, age 71, Dorchester, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Dorchester.

The Rev. Roland Golz officiated at the 1:30 p.m. services. Burial followed at the Dorchester Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Beisner died at his home Tuesday, July 13, 1976 of a heart attack.

He was born October 9, 1904 in the Town of Holton, Marathon County, and received his education at the Pleasant Hill and St. Peter’s Lutheran School.

On March 28, 1932 he married the former Beatrice Gipp at Dorchester. She survives.

Mr. Beisner worked as cheese maker for Mayville Cheese Factory from 1925 to 1946. He then worked for Laabs Cheese at Dorchester until 1971.

He was a member of St. Peter’s Church.

He is further survived by two brothers, Albert and Fred, both of Dorchester.

Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Richard Nikolai, Colby. Great-grandparents are Mrs. Hattie Miller, Chippewa, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Nikolai, Marshfield, and Mrs. Elsie Schuh, Abbotsford.

Conrad J. Orth, Colby, has been reappointed Voice of Democracy Director of the Department of Wisconsin Veterans of Foreign Wars.

The appointment was made by Monte D. Hanson, Janesville, who was elected VFW State Commander at the recent state convention in Wausau.

Orth, who is past state commander of the VFW, is a member of Huber-Schmitt-Bruesewitz Post No. 2227, Colby.

He will coordinate the statewide participation in the National VFW Voice of Democracy scholarship competition for high school students.

Co-Che-Da, taken from the words, Colby Cheese Days, and submitted by Marty Kaiser, Colby, was the $100 winner of the “Little Guy Contest.” The winner was announced on Sunday, the last day of the three day Colby Cheese Days celebration.

There were 331 entries received from Milwaukee, Edgar, Abbotsford, St. Paul, Athens, Spencer, Loyal, Madison, Menomonee Falls, Unity, Withee, Marshfield, Rockford, Illinois, Curtiss, Hales Corners, Monico, Arpin, Stratford, Dorchester, Owen, Waukesha, Thorp and Colby.
