Hi Vickie - Answered this but don't find it registered in my 'sent mail' --please excuse if I'm doubling up! But wanted you to know how glad I was to see you've dug up some more news of John William Hommel who was brother of my grandfather - Ed Hommel. John William was called Uncle Will by my family. He was a military man as well as active in the community of Neillsville. I've found references to him as 'Tom' -- my parents and aunts and uncles are all gone so I can't ask them if they knew of this 'alias' and how he got it. The Jessie Romaine mentioned in the same news article was also related. Her dad was brother of Ben Franklin Romaine who married 2 of my grandmother's sisters --Emma Shupe was a half sister - after her death B.F. married Amanda Shupe, full sister to my grandmother who was Lillie Shupe before her marriage to my grandfather, Ed Hommel. Emma and Ben Romaine and Edward and Celia Romaine were very early settlers of Clark county - they are there on the 1870 census [Loyal] ahead of my Great Grandparents - Elias and Mathilda Shupe. Hope you are ready for the holidays. Merry Christmas! Pat McDougall
