Capes, Clarence (1907 - 30 NOV 1926)

Clarence Capes, aged 19 years, died of accidental drowning while an inmate of the Wis. State Hospital for Insane at Mendota, on Tuesday of last week. The young man was one of the trusty patients of the institution, and was well on the road to recovery from all reports. Tuesday afternoon he went for a walk and at supper time failed to return, and a search was immediately started. His body was found at the bottom of a large well on the grounds, lying in about a foot of water, into which it is believed he fell. The remains were brought here (Owen, Clark County, Wis.) Thursday evening and taken to the home of this parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Capes, residing one and one-half miles west of Withee. Funeral services were conducted on Saturday afternoon from the M. E. Church, at Withee (The rest of my copy was unreadable)
