Johanna Pekol

Johanna "Jennie" Pekol, 91, Wausau, formerly of Willard, died Friday, July 25, 2003, at Comfort Care and Hospice Services of Community Health Care Wausau Hospital, Wausau. Funeral services were held Monday, July 28, at 11 a.m., at Holy Family Catholic Church, Willard. The Rev. Joseph Follmar officiated. Burial was in Holy Family Cemetery, Willard. Pallbearers were Ron Jensen, Eric Peterson, Curt Richardt, Charles Durst, Michael Pekol, James Pekol, and Christopher Pekol.

Johanna Baskovec was born on May 16, 1912, to Joseph Baskovec in Chicago, Ill. She was raised and educated in Chicago and moved to Willard in the early 1930's. She married Stanley Pekol on June 24, 1933 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Willard. They farmed in the Willard area and raised their four children. In 1966, they moved to Marathon City. They resided there until moving to Wausau in 1973, where she resided until the time of her death. She was a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church, Wausau, and the K.S.K.J. Lodge. Her interests included knitting, crocheting, collecting antique dolls, and bird watching.

Survivors include her four children, Stanley Pekol, Neillsville, James (Judy) Pekol, Schofield, Ernest (Lynette) Pekol, Clearwater, Fla., and Judtih (Richard) Jensen, Wausau; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Frances Debevec, Rush City, Minn.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; and one brother, Joseph Baskovec.

Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood, assisted the family with arrangements.
