"Carl W. Sorenson Buried At Longwood Saturday" Carl W. Sorenson passed away at his home at Longwood Wednesday, February 28, after a lingering illness, at the age of 70 years and 25 days. He had been a pioneer resident of the Longwood community. Services were held for him Saturday afternoon, March 3, at two o’clock from the Emmanuel Lutheran Church at Longwood with Rev. T.M. Nelson officiating. Burial was made in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were Everett Awe, Emery Erickson, Merlin Awe, Carlton Kraut, Charles Pribbernow and Lee Jackson. Those in charge of flowers were Norma and Ann Werner, Betty Kiviko and Betty Ericksmoen. Carl W. Sorenson, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Julius Sorenson was born on February 3, 1881 in the Town of Green Grove. On June 9, 1909 he was united in marriage to Mathilda Elstrom at Greenwood. She passed away in 1938 and on February 6, 1943 he was again united in marriage to Mrs. Gunda Awe. A community-minded citizen, Mr. Sorenson was always active in any community project. For years he successfully engaged in the vocation of farming, served for many years as a field representative of the Owen Canning Corporation and was assessor of the Town of Longwood at the time of his death. Mourning his departure are his widow, three sisters, Mrs. Cecelia Jackson, Greenwood; Mrs. Jennie Jorenby, Hillsdale; Mrs. Julia Erickson, Winchester; a nephew, Carlton, who made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Sorenson for many years; six step-children, Everett Awe, Lake Villa, Ill; Merlin Awe, Zion, Ill.; Myron Awe, serving with the army in Japan, Mrs. Gertrude Kettner, Waukegan, Ill.; Mrs. Mildred Peaslee, Lake Villa, Ill.; Mrs. Ilene Pribbernow, Owen and a step-grandson, John Awe, who has made his home with him for the past five years. Persons from away attending the services were Mrs. Cecelia Jackson and Einar, Lee and Lawrence, Mr. and Mrs. Don Warner and Norma and Ann of Greenwood; Mrs. Harold Jorenby, Mrs. Lloyd Hanson, Hillsdale, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Erickson, Winchester, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Everett Awe and Jerry of Lake Villa, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Philip Kettner and Philip Jr., Waukegan, Ill.; Frederic Merlin Awe, Zion, Ill.; Carlton Kraut, Mrs. Herman Mueller and Susan, Roger and Pamila, Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Viggo Marcussen, Lake Forest, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Chivington and Mr. and Mrs. Myron Anderson and daughter Iris, Appleton, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Awe, Mrs. and Mrs. Uno Kolpanen, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Awe, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Molle and Judy, Owen; Mr. and Mrs. Ole Elstrom, Mrs. Verna Elstrom, Colby; Albert Klessig, Curtiss; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Voie and Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Franz, Greenwood.
