Oertli, George (Oct 1855 - Augl 1907)

The following from the Levis correspondence in the Neillsville Rep. & Press, chronicles the passing of George Oertli, a former resident of this vicinity:

"The Grim Reaper called another of our estimable citizens to the great beyond, when George Oertli passed peacefully away last Thursday night, while he slept. Mr. Oertli was born in Canton Glaus, Switzerland, 53 years ago next October; came to America when a young man and spent most of his life in this country in Green Co., Wis., but came to Clark County and lived near Humbird for a short time, and had bought a home in the town of Levis three years ago. He had been in his usual health, and was preparing to build a new house to replace the one recently burned, when death came. The large number of friends who attended the funeral attested his standing in the community. Rev. Schroer of Stratford, conducted the services, interment taking place in the Levis Cemetery. He leaves a wife and one little daughter to mourn the loss of a kind husband and father."
