Houghton, Alice E. (13 AUG 1854 - 17 OCT 1919)

A copy of the Tacoma (Wash.) Tribune of Oct. 18, 1919, contains the following notice of the death of Mrs. Edgar P. Houghton:

"After an illness of more than a year, Mrs. E. P. Houghton died Friday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. F. D. Metcalf, 210 23rd St. S. E. Puyallup.

Alice Elizabeth Wells was born Aug. 13, 1854, at Huntley, Ill., and was married to E. P. Houghton March 25, 1903. They came to the state of Washington in 1904, residing in Puyallup and Tacoma ever since. Mrs. Houghton was a member of the Presbyterian Church, the Ladies of the G. A. R., and the Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by her husband; one sister, Mrs. W. L. York of Puyallup, and one brother, E. A. Wells, of Marengo, Ill.

Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 1:30 from the chapel of Spurr & Dunlap's Rev. M. B. Loughlen will officiate and entombment will be in the Tacoma Mausoleum."

Old friends here (Humbird, Clark County, Wis.) extend to the bereaved husband consolations in this hour of sorrow.
