Coultas, Vera J. (Jefferson) (31 AUG 1922 - 3 MAY 2014)

Vera J. Coultas, 91, Rib Lake, died on Saturday, May 3 at Care Partners Assisted Living in Medford, where she resided the past month. No services will be held.

Hemer Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with arrangements.

The former Vera Jefferson was born on August 31, 1922 in Medford to the late Eugene and Vera (Bixby) Jefferson. She attended Monroe Center elementary schools and was a 1941 graduate of Adams-Friendship High School.

She married Frank Sorce in Reno, Nev., and they later divorced. She married Dean Coultas in Reno, and he preceded her in death in 1967. She worked as a blackjack dealer in Reno for 32 years until her retirement. In 2009 she moved to Rib Lake to live with her daughter.
She enjoyed reading, watching football and Nascar.

Survivors include two sons, Jim Sorce of China and Tom (Donna) Sorce of Malibu, Calif.; a daughter, Deb (Mike) Gojmerac of Rib Lake; two siblings, John "Jack" Jefferson of Montana and Jean Callahan of Montana; and five grandchildren, Erin and Jennifer Moore, and Jessica, Kyra and Luke Sorce.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her significant other, Ron Searls, in 2002; two sisters, Crystal "Opie" Freeck and Wilma Jones; and three brothers, Forrest, Joe and George Jefferson.
