Glamann, Harvey F. (2 JUL 1920 - 3 MAY 2014)

Harvey F. Glamann, 93, Dorchester, died on Saturday, May 3 at St. Joseph's Ministry Hospital in Marshfield, where he had been a patient the past four days. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 7 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Medford, with Pastor Kelly Taylor-Schaus officiating, and military rites performed by the Medford Area Military Honors Team.

Interment of his cremated remains will take are on Saturday, May 17 at 9 a.m. at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II. Active pallbearers are Justin Lekies, Dan and Chad Glamann, and Chad, Steve and Troy Meyer. Honorary pallbearers are Mark and Mitchell Underwood, and Jeff, Justin, Scott, Trevor and Zach Meyer.

Hemer Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with arrangements.

Harvey Glamann was born on July 2, 1920 in Iron Ridge, Dodge County, to the late Fredrick Frank and Caroline (Diels) Glamann. He attended elementary schools in Dodge County and the Medford area, and Medford High School.

On April 12, 1945 in Bennetsville, S.C., he married Vivian "Billie" Moore, who preceded him in death on May 8, 1985. On October 21, 1988 in Dorchester, he married Violet M. Gumz-Meyer, who preceded him in death on March 25, 2009.

In his early years he worked for Norbert Egle as a farm hand. In 1940 he worked as a bridge builder and painter for Soo Line Railroad. From 1942 to 1946 he served in the United States Army during World War II, then after serving in the military, he took over the family farm in the town of Medford. He then worked at Hurd Millwork from 1950 to 1968, for Presto Industries in Eau Claire until 1975, then at Weather Shield from 1975 until his retirement in 1987.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church where he taught Sunday school, served on the church council and building committee, Medford Lions Club, and lifetime member of Medford VFW Club and Dorchester American Legion Club. He enjoyed fishing, bird watching, polka music, reading, camping and traveling.

Survivors include six sons, Mike (Peg) Glamann of Altoona, Wayne (Sandy) Glamann of Eau Claire, and "Butch" Glamann, Mark Glamann, Gary Glamann and Ron (Rachelle) Glamann, all of Medford; five step-children, Judy (Ed Spletter) Meyer, Don (Jane) Meyer, Larry (Jackie) Meyer, Dale (Dora) Meyer and Tim (Tim Goggin) Meyer; a sister-in-law, Donna Glamann of Medford; seven grandchildren; 17 step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; 32 step-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wives, he was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Glamann, and a sister, Lila Jacobs.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
