Lukes, JoAnne (31 OCT 1960 - 2 SEP 2005)

JoAnne Lukes, 44, Loyal, died Friday, Sept., 2, 2005, at St. Michael’s Hospital, Sauk Centre, Minn. Visitation will be held from 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 9, until service time at 6 p.m., at Community Funeral Home, Spencer. A celebration of life will be provided by civil celebrant Terry Moore. Burial of cremains will be at a later date.

JoAnne Backus was born on Oct. 31, 1960, in Marshfield, to Walter and Edith (nee Severson) Backus. She was a Greenwood High School graduate and attended Chippewa Valley Technical College and Mid State Technical College. She enjoyed her life as shown by her hard work and loving family. She enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with family and friends. She was always there when you needed a helping hand. She left this world doing what she loved most: driving truck and wearing her Viking colors. She’ll be greatly missed by her husband, Jeffery Lukes, whom she married on July 5, 1996, in Loyal, her family and friends.

Survivors include her husband, Jeff, Loyal; three children, Steven Fleischmann, Spencer, Sara Fleischmann, Crystal River, Fla., and David Saindon, Marshfield; one grandson, Evan Fleischmann; her parents, Walter and Edith Backus, Willard; four brothers, William Backus, Greenwood, Les Backus, Stewartville, Minn., Jim (Jodi) Backus, Greenwood, and Bailey Backus, Spencer.

Preceding her in death were her son, Jeffery Lukes; and her paternal and maternal grandparents.

Community Funeral Home, Spencer, is assisting the family with arrangements.
