Jost, Leon Robert (20 Nov. 1925 – 4 Oct. 2000)

Unity - Leon Robert Jost, 74, Unity, died Oct. 4, 2000, at the Colonial Center in Colby.

Funeral services for Leon will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Unity with Rev. John Clasen officiating.

Burial, with full military rites, will be in the church cemetery. Grandson will serve as pallbearers, David, Daniel, and Brain Michlig and Michael and Mark Engevold and Lucas Bedroske.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Maurina Funeral Home in Abbotsford and from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church.

Leon Jost was born Nov. 20, 1925, in Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan, Canada, the son of Mathias and Josephine (nee Kirchmeier) Jost. He moved with his family to the United Sates and graduated from Spencer High School. Leon was drafted during World War II and served his country in the U.S. Army in France. Upon his honorable discharge in September of 1946, he attended the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

Leon and the former Joanne Tennis Pribnow were united in marriage on June 25, 1955. He served as a rural route mail carrier for the Unity Post Office for 30 years. He also was employed as a bookkeeper for the original Johnson’s Garage in Unity. He was the Unity Village Clerk for 10 years and was a member of the Colby VFW and the Unity American Legion. A member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, he served on the church council. Leon was an avid hunter and enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. He was devoted to his family who will mill his wonderful sense of humor.

He will be dearly missed by his three daughters, Denise (Dennis) Engevold of Spencer, Judy (Russell) Bedroske of Dorchester and Jamie (Robert) Michlig of Colby; twin brothers, Boyd (Peggy) Jost of Neenah and Matt Jost of Broken Arrow, Ariz.; three sisters, Marie Mielke, Eva Nelson and Eunice Van de Berg, all of Neenah; son-in-law, Jerold Michlig of Unity; sister-in-law, Trudy Jost of Fond du Lac; 10 grandchildren, David, Daniel and Brian Michlig, Michael and Mark Engevold, Lucas, Pat and Josey Bedroske, Ross and Grahm Michlig; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne, on Oct. 13, 1998; his parents, one daughter; Deborah Michlig on Aug. 6, 2000; and two brothers, Joseph and Jim Jost.

Maurina Funeral Home of Abbotsford assisted the family with arrangements.
