Elmer William Schuette was born on Oct. 2, 1915, in the Town of Beaver, rural Loyal, the son of Albert and Louise (nee Jerowitz) Schuette. He received his early education in the former Oak Grove School and attended Riplinger High School. He worked with the Civilian Conservation Corps in Wakefield, Mich.

Elmer and the former Ruth Sommer were united in marriage on June 10, 1939.

They owned and operated Elmer’s Log Cabin in Riplinger and in 1943 farmed in the Town of Green Grove before retiring in 1988. His son and family now operate the family farm where Elmer lived until the time of his death. Elmer was always busy helping family and friends with welding, whitewashing barns and logging in the woods, selling fence posts and firewood. He also worked for the Town of Green Grove steaming and clearing culverts and drains. He enjoyed welding creative designs and crafts and also enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and ice fishing.

Elmer will be sadly missed by his son and family, William (Jennifer) Schuette of Unity and their children, Theresa (Mel) Larson, Lance, Rexanne, Lucinda, Kayann, Melissa and Tamalee Schuette and great-grandson, Trinity Larson; one brothers, Ottmer Schuette of Santa Ana, Calif.; and his sister, Sylvia Schwarze of Neillsville, Wis.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, on Aug. 23, 1989; and by his parents.
