Struensee, Irene J. (October 17, 1906 - June 7, 1974)

Mrs. Edward (Irene) J Struensee, age 67, of Rt. #1 Neillsville, died Friday, June 7, 1974, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, following a lingering illness. Funeral services were held Monday from the Georgas Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Clark of the United Church of Christ officiating. Interment was in the Neillsville cemetery.

Irene was the daughter of Parker and Julia (Northrup) Metcalf, born on October 17, 1906, in the town of York, and received her education there. She was married to Edward O. Struensee on December 28, 1927, in Neillsville, Wis. The couple farmed in the town of Weston until 1931 when they moved to a farm in the town of Pine Valley, where they farmed since that time.

Surviving is her husband, three sons, Calvin Struensee of Dallas, TX, Harry Struensee of Farmington, MN and Dennis Struensee of Neillsville: two sisters, Mrs. Louis (Elsie) Kaudy of Greenwood and Mrs. Sadie Miller of Rt #1 Neillsville; two brothers, Kenneth and Leon Metcalf, both of Neillsville and one grandchild.

"In the Garden" and "What a Friend We have in Jesus" were sung by Wilfred Galstad, with Mrs. Roger Heineck as the accompanist.

Pallbearers were Elliott Warlum, John Mazola, Lloyd Meyer, Jack Counsell, George Crothers and Ben Grottke.
