Spencer - Mrs. Ralph Scheel, 48, a resident of this community, was killed instantly, and her husband suffered head and facial injuries shortly after midnight Saturday when the auto in which they were returning from Colby went out of control at a curve on Highway 13 and plunged more than 200 feet into a field.

Her husband is being treated in St. Joseph’s Hospital at Marshfield where his condition today was described as "good."

Mrs. Scheel had been hurled through the rear window of the car as it toppled end-over-end into the field after careening from the right side of the highway at the north edge of the village. Her body was only inches from the wrecked car. Her husband also had been thrown to the rear section of the car, but remained inside the vehicle.
