Henkel, Julia A. (25 AUG 1854 - 18 FEB 1902)

Died, at her home in this city (Colby, Clark Co., Wis.), Tuesday morning, Feb. 18th, 1902, of bronchial trouble, complicated with fatty degeneration of the heart, Julia Anna, wife of Phillip Henkel, in the 48th year of her life.

Julia Anna Baldwin was born at Plymouth, Sheboygan Co., Wis., Aug. 25th, 1854. She was united in marriage with Phillip Henkel, Sept. 30th, 1871. They made their home at Glen Beulah in the same county, for about six years, and came to Colby in Jan. 1878. She was the mother of 7 children, 6 of whom, 5 sons and 1 daughter, survive her and with their father mourn the loss of a loving, devoted wife and mother. Besides the immediate family she leaves two brothers, T.M. Baldwin of Minneapolis, and E.J. Baldwin of Alpena, S.D., and two sisters, Mrs. Alice Wyman of Clear Water, Minn., and Miss Sarah Baldwin of Plymouth.

Mrs. Henkel was a good woman, one who loved her home above all other places. She was kind, genial and neighborly, but it was at home, when surrounded by her family, that she was the most content.

For the past year she has been a sufferer from a bronchial trouble that baffled all attempts at a cure, though everything possible was done for her relief. When the end came it was very sudden, none of the family dreaming the end was so near, without a gasp or the twitch of a muscle, she just stopped breathing.

The funeral will be held this afternoon at two o’clock from the M.E. Church, Rev. E.G. Vischer officiating.
